Wyn Turnbull

Wyn Turnbull is Global Technical Director at Black & White Engineering, based in the UK, where he leads the Black & White Technical Authority, responsible for setting and maintaining engineering standards across design and project delivery. In this role, Wyn ensures consistency, quality and technical excellence across the company’s global portfolio, while also supporting the wider power systems capability within the business.

A Chartered Engineer and long-standing member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Wyn has been registered with the UK Engineering Council since 1984. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to the profession through roles on the IET President’s List of expert witnesses and participation in British Standards Institution committees, reflecting his depth of expertise and industry recognition.

With over 50 years of experience in engineering and construction, Wyn brings exceptional technical knowledge across power systems engineering, generation and control systems. He began his career working in the process, mining and metallurgical industries before moving into mission-critical infrastructure in 1998. Since then, he has focused on projects within the financial services and data centre sectors, working across Europe, Africa, North America, the Far East and Australia.

Wyn’s role at Black & White centres on defining and upholding the technical standards that underpin the company’s delivery. He works closely with engineering teams across all regions, providing guidance, assurance and expert input on complex projects. His attention to detail and rigorous approach ensure that solutions are technically sound, resilient and aligned with industry best practice.

He is particularly recognised for his expertise in due diligence and root cause analysis, often supporting deep technical investigations into power systems performance and control system logic. His ability to analyse complex systems and identify practical solutions makes him a trusted advisor to both colleagues and clients.

Known for his depth of knowledge, Wyn plays a key role in mentoring engineers and supporting the development of technical capability across the business.
