Stephen Tode

Stephen Tode is Chief Operating Officer at Black & White Engineering and a member of the Executive Board, bringing over 42 years of experience across the global construction and engineering sectors. With a career spanning the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and the Middle East, Stephen offers deep international expertise and a proven track record in delivering complex, large-scale projects. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and holds an LLB, combining strong technical knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of legal, contractual and commercial frameworks.

Stephen has worked across a diverse range of projects in both the building sector and heavy civil engineering. His portfolio includes landmark developments such as the Taiwan High Speed Rail and the Burj Khalifa—projects that demonstrate his ability to lead within highly demanding, multidisciplinary environments. These experiences have shaped his pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to operational leadership and project delivery.

As COO, Stephen is responsible for overseeing the global operations of Black & White, ensuring that the business delivers consistently high standards across its international footprint. He works closely with the Chairman and CEO together with the senior leadership team to align operational performance with the company’s strategic growth ambitions, with responsibility spanning corporate governance, financial performance, commercial management and project delivery. Known for his structured and hands-on approach, Stephen plays a key role in supporting directors and project teams, strengthening delivery frameworks and driving operational excellence across the organisation.

Reflecting Black & White’s continued global expansion, Stephen has recently relocated from Dubai to Singapore, marking the company’s first permanent C-suite presence in the Asia Pacific region. Alongside his Group role, he has assumed additional responsibility as Singapore and APAC Area Director, providing direct leadership and oversight across the region. This dual role supports the company’s long-term growth strategy in APAC, ensuring strong governance, regional alignment and continuity as demand for mission-critical infrastructure continues to accelerate.
