Paul Cook

Global Director Technology & Innovation

Paul Cook is Global Director of Technology and Innovation at Black & White Engineering, where he leads the development of technology strategy and innovation across the business, with a focus on the future of AI-driven data centre infrastructure.

With over two decades of international experience, Paul’s background spans critical infrastructure, integrated environments and high-performance operational platforms. He has worked across sectors including utilities, large-scale ports, pharmaceutical R&D facilities, healthcare environments and hyperscale data centres, bringing together engineering, data and operational performance into cohesive, scalable solutions. His ability to operate across multiple sectors gives him a broad perspective on how complex systems can be designed, integrated and optimised to meet evolving demands.

His experience ranges from high-voltage power modelling and protection systems through to complex systems integration and, more recently, the development of operational platforms for AI-driven data centres. A consistent theme throughout his career has been working at the level of operational ecosystems—aligning physical infrastructure, data flows and operational processes to improve performance, resilience and long-term value. He is particularly focused on how data and digital technologies can enhance decision-making, enabling more responsive and adaptive infrastructure.

Prior to joining Black & White Engineering, Paul held senior technology and innovation roles within a hyperscale owner-operator environment, where he led the development of platforms that support live data centre operations at scale. His work focused on improving efficiency, reliability and lifecycle performance through better use of data and integrated system design, helping to drive measurable improvements in operational outcomes.

At Black & White Engineering, Paul is focused on embedding technology and innovation as a core part of how the business designs and delivers projects, ensuring that data-driven thinking and integrated system design are applied in a practical, outcome-focused way. He works closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure that innovation is aligned with real project needs and client objectives.

His approach centres on enabling data centres to evolve from static, designed assets into high-performance systems that can continuously optimise efficiency, resilience and operational outcomes in real time, supporting the next generation of digital infrastructure.
