Chris Nisbet

Chris Nisbet is Global BIM Lead at Black & White Engineering, based in the Newcastle office, where he has worked since he joined in 2014. He is responsible for defining and leading Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital engineering strategy across all regions, ensuring a consistent and controlled approach to information management that supports reliable delivery on complex, large-scale projects.

Chris leads the implementation of ISO 19650 aligned processes, establishing clear standards for information production, coordination, and approval. He ensures that all projects operate within a structured digital framework that supports programme certainty, design quality, and risk reduction. .

Leading BIM capability growth across the organisation, Chris supports regional teams by establishing structured training and development aligned with business needs. He sets the global BIM governance framework, including standards, templates, and quality assurance processes. This provides clear direction for project teams and BIM leads operating as Lead Appointed Party, ensuring consistency and quality across all regions.

Chris drives the use of Autodesk Forma to manage the Common Data Environment, enabling controlled information exchange, clear audit trails, and effective collaboration between global teams. He defines the workflows for coordination, issue management, and model federation to support efficient delivery and informed decision making. His focus on structured processes and clear standards ensures that BIM is used effectively as a tool for collaboration, clash detection and data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

An Autodesk Revit Certified Professional with a background in mechanical engineering, Chris combines technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure BIM delivers clear value to clients. He is known for his methodical approach and his ability to translate complex requirements into practical, user-friendly systems that can be adopted across teams with varying levels of experience.

In addition to his technical leadership, Chris is passionate about developing BIM capability within the business. Through a focused R&D programme, Chris leads a team advancing automation and AI across model checking, data validation, and digital workflows to improve efficiency and reduce delivery risk. These initiatives deliver measurable improvements in productivity, coordination, and overall project outcomes.
