With over 19 years of engineering excellence, we’ve become a world leading data centre engineering consultancy delivering more than 8GW of capacity across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, through our fully integrated, multidisciplinary design teams.

Our story of success
Black & White was born with the founding team members’ conviction to be a true people business. That commitment to be an employer of choice has shaped a collaborative culture where our people feel valued, supported and proud to be part of what we are building together.
From a team of four, we have grown into a global community of over 1,100 people across 23 cities. Many of our founding members are still with us today, alongside colleagues who have spent ten years or more helping to shape our story.
Celebrating over a decade at Black & White
Founded
Black & White Engineering began as a small group of specialists united by a shared vision: to bring clarity to complex engineering challenges and a commitment to be an employer of choice. From the outset, the focus was on technical excellence and delivering practical solutions for clients.
Expanding in the UAE
We opened our Abu Dhabi office and continued to grow despite the global financial downturn. Early projects across the UAE and India strengthened our resilience and long-term outlook.
Rebrand and Newcastle headquarters established
A defining year for our business, with a rebrand and the opening of our company headquarters in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Alongside this, our expansion into Manila marked the start of a truly global presence.
Entering new markets
We expanded into Azerbaijan and Australia, registering in Baku and Perth. This broadened our reach and introduced new opportunities across emerging markets.
London and landmark projects
We opened our London office, strengthening our UK presence. Key global projects included the Oman Regional Airports programme, Dubai Festival City Mall expansion, Caspian Waterfront and Yas Viceroy Hotel.
Continued European growth
We expanded our company headquarters in Newcastle and registered in Paris. Despite global disruption through the pandemic, we maintained delivery across all regions.
Celebrating 15 years
New offices in Edinburgh and New Delhi, expansions in Abu Dhabi and London and entry into Frankfurt reflected growing client demand as we celebrated 15 years of progress.
Major European growth
Rapid expansion saw new offices in Manchester, Frankfurt, Paris and Milan, supported by strategic relocations in Newcastle, Abu Dhabi and Manila to accommodate our growing teams. Milan was also registered, continuing our expansion into Southern Europe to meet increasing demand.
Celebrating 1,000 Colleagues Worldwide
We opened our Ireland office through the acquisition of Homan O’Brien and we surpassed 1,000 colleagues globally. This milestone reflects sustained growth and the strength of our One Global Team
Expanding into North America
We are continuing our global expansion as we prepare to enter the North American market this year. New offices will open in Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur. Relocations in Frankfurt and Paris support our growing teams with a planned new opening in Madrid.
