100MW+ Across Multiple Sites in Saudi Arabia.
Scale, complexity and coordination across multiple sites delivered with certainty. That’s the Black & White Way.
- Sector
- Multi-Campus Data Centre
Three sites. Eight phases each. One integrated programme. This Riyadh hyperscale data centre development is a strong example of what coordinated design leadership looks like when scale and complexity run in parallel.
Black & White Engineering served as Lead Design and MEP Consultant across all three sites, delivering over 100MW of IT capacity through a standardised design framework that maintained technical consistency while allowing each site the flexibility it needed. From first design through to construction support, our team kept the programme moving across multiple locations, simultaneously.
The Brief
Each of the three sites required an eight-phase data centre alongside comprehensive supporting infrastructure generator yards, diesel storage and refuelling zones, sprinkler tanks, pumphouses and ancillary buildings. The programme called for consistent technical standards across geographically dispersed locations, simultaneous multi-phase coordination, and full compliance with Saudi Arabian local authority requirements, all within a complex, multi-year delivery timeline.
The brief was clear: deliver design certainty across all three sites without sacrificing flexibility as the programme evolved.
Our Approach
Standardised Design Framework
We developed a consistent technical design framework applied across all three sites, reducing design risk and accelerating delivery. Where site conditions required adaptation, proven methodologies were adjusted ensuring coherence across the programme.
Multi-Site Programme Coordination
Managing three simultaneous developments with phased delivery required careful orchestration. Our team maintained design integrity across all sites while building in the flexibility needed to respond to evolving requirements, keeping the programme moving without creating dependency between sites.
Local Authority Compliance
Permitting and regulatory coordination across all three sites was managed in-house, ensuring full compliance with Saudi Arabian standards and local authority requirements throughout the design and construction process.
Construction Stage Support
Our involvement continued through construction across all three sites providing technical oversight, resolving emerging issues in real time and ensuring design intent was preserved from first foundation to practical completion.
The Result
- Over 100MW IT capacity delivered across three strategic locations in Riyadh
- Consistent technical standards maintained across all sites through a unified design framework
- Three simultaneous developments coordinated under a single integrated programme
- Full local authority compliance achieved across all sites
- Phased delivery structure built in, providing flexibility as market and client requirements evolved
- Seamless design-to-build transition supported by continuous construction stage involvement
