At Black & White Engineering, a Principal Engineer is someone others look to for direction. You bring clarity to complexity, confidence to delivery, and a calm, considered presence to high profile projects.
You enjoy responsibility, value collaboration, and take pride in developing engineers around you — knowing that strong teams deliver the best engineering.
What’s in it for you
This is a role with real influence.
As a Principal Power Systems Engineer, you’ll take ownership of larger, more complex projects and play a visible role in how they are delivered — technically, commercially and culturally.
You’ll be trusted to lead teams, strengthen long term client relationships, and help shape the future of the power systems discipline within the business. Alongside project leadership, you’ll have the space to coach, mentor and inspire others, while continuing to develop your own professional standing.
You’ll be supported by a global, collaborative environment that values integrity, simplicity, accountability and quality — and where leadership is measured not by hierarchy, but by impact.
The impact you can make
At Principal level, your impact extends well beyond individual design tasks. In this role, you will:
- Lead the technical direction of major MV and HV projects, ensuring robust, compliant and efficient power systems solutions from concept through to completion
- Take accountability for client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor, contributing to new opportunities and sustaining long term partnerships
- Provide visible leadership across project teams, coordinating resources, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring delivery meets both technical and commercial expectations
- Champion technical excellence and governance, overseeing power systems studies, specifications and designs in line with BS, IEC, UK regulations and international standards
- Develop people and capability, coaching and mentoring engineers, sharing knowledge, and creating an environment where others can grow and succeed
Your leadership will help set standards, shape behaviours, and strengthen Black & White Engineering’s reputation for quality power systems design.
You will be joining a community that focuses on learning and development through regular lunch and learn sessions, investment in accredited professional courses or educational programmes. you can set the pace for your professional development, and whatever path you choose, you will receive relevant support.
