Embedded within our Global Technical Office, the Global Engineering Team (GET) drives data centre engineering innovation, sets technical direction, establishes engineering standards and ensures systematic innovation across every project we deliver. For our clients, this means design certainty grounded in Black & White’s full body of global project experience. It means operational intelligence that extends beyond handover. Facilities that perform as designed, adapt as demands evolve and improve continuously over their operational life.

Design Certainty

At the start of every project, GET’s Technical Strategy Review establishes the right engineering direction before design work begins, setting the technical approach, identifying risks early and aligning project teams with the standards that define Black & White’s quality.

Validated Innovation

GET works closely with our R&D team to identify, evaluate and integrate data centre engineering innovation into our practice. R&D scans the horizon from liquid cooling advances to long-duration energy storage and GET translates those innovations into standardised, site-specific engineering designs deployable across our global offices.

Built to scale

GET is building a library of standard module designs and engineering reference solutions, accessible across all regions. Grounded in real project experience and continuously refined, these solutions reduce risk, accelerate delivery and ensure consistent technical excellence across every geography we operate in.

GET drives continuous improvement across Black & White’s engineering standards using structured client feedback, performance metrics and cross-regional knowledge sharing to raise the bar. At Black & White, the integration of our Global Engineering Team and R&D is the technical engine behind our commitment to decarbonising design and embedding data centre engineering innovation into every sustainability decision we make. While R&D identifies emerging low-carbon technologies, GET translates those innovations into standardised engineering designs deployed consistently across our global offices.

Sustainability is integrated into the initial blueprint of every facility we develop. In practice, this means advanced modelling applied before any design decision is locked in: CFD to reduce cooling energy, predictive engineering to optimise PUE and WUE, and embodied carbon analysis to select materials with lower whole-life impact.
