A Landmark for Irish Healthcare

This €213 million facility is the first new acute hospital built in the country in nearly two decades. Opening in phases, it represents a major investment in Irish healthcare and will provide advanced medical services to communities across the Mid-West region.

Delivering MEP Services in Ireland

From concept to completion, the project team, Black & White Engineering provided full mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) services, ensuring that the hospital meets the highest standards of clinical functionality, sustainability, and patient comfort.

Key features of the hospital

  • A cardiac catheterisation lab, the first private facility of its kind in the Mid-West.
  • Specialist services including surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and diagnostic imaging.

Setting a New Benchmark in Private Healthcare

Alan Sharp, Group CEO of Bon Secours Health System, described the hospital as a “milestone for Irish healthcare,” while Jason Kenny, CEO of Bon Secours Hospital Limerick, highlighted its cutting-edge technology and the positive impact it will have on healthcare delivery in the region.

Reflecting on the project, James Reilly, Area Director at Black & White Engineering, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of our Dublin team’s contribution to this transformative project. This hospital sets a new benchmark for private healthcare in Ireland, and we’re honoured to have played a part in its realisation.”

The completion of Bon Secours Hospital Limerick demonstrates the important role Black & White’s Dublin office continues to play in supporting critical infrastructure projects through MEP services in Ireland and in contributing to improved healthcare outcomes for local communities.

The project contributes to improved healthcare outcomes while reinforcing the importance of well-designed, high-performance engineering systems.
