MEP and Lead Design for Two-Building Hyperscale Campus in Paris

From Lead Designer to Engineer of Record. Continuity Delivered. That’s the Black & White Way

Black & White Engineering served as Lead Designer for MEP design on a two-building hyperscale campus near Paris. Delivering Stage 2 and Stage 3 design before transitioning to an Engineer of Record role from Stage 4 onwards, our involvement spanned the full design and construction journey ensuring design integrity was maintained from concept through to build.

The Brief

The project required MEP design leadership across two buildings, with a structured handover from lead design into an oversight and assurance role as the contractor took on construction responsibility. Maintaining technical continuity and client confidence through that transition was a key requirement of the appointment.

Our Approach

Stage 2 and 3 MEP Design

Black & White delivered full MEP design across both buildings through Stages 2 and 3, establishing the technical baseline for the campus and coordinating across all disciplines to produce construction-ready documentation.

Transition to Engineer of Record

From Stage 4 onwards, our role transitioned to Engineer of Record providing design oversight, technical assurance and issue resolution through construction. The transition was managed to ensure no loss of design continuity or client confidence at the point of handover.

The Result

• Over 70MW IT capacity across two buildings, designed and delivered to programme
• Full MEP design completed through Stages 2 and 3
• Seamless transition to Engineer of Record role from Stage 4, maintaining design integrity through construction
• Client confidence maintained across both the design and construction phases
