Black & White Engineering is hiring a Senior Acoustics Engineer to lead a new department focused on external noise control for data centres. Whether or not you’ve worked on data centres before, your experience in complex commercial buildings will be highly valued.
This role could be based in either of our Newcastle, Manchester or Edinburgh offices.

Technical Expertise
Serve as the subject matter expert in external noise control, particularly for data centre environments, applying your knowledge to deliver innovative and compliant solutions.
Acoustic Design & Modelling
Use industry-standard tools such as SoundPLAN and CadnaA to model and design acoustic layouts, including mitigation strategies like acoustic louvres and perimeter walls.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all designs meet global environmental noise regulations and standards, advising clients and internal teams on best practices.
Flexible Working
Operate from our offices in Manchester, Edinburgh, or Newcastle, with a hybrid working model of three days per week in-office.
Professional Development

Essentials Skills / Experience
- Demonstrated experience in building acoustic modelling and design, ideally within complex commercial environments.
- Proficiency in acoustic simulation software such as SoundPLAN and/or CadnaA.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental noise regulations and mitigation strategies.
- A collaborative and innovative mindset, with the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop team members while recognising their contributions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
